About The African American Islamic Institute

The African American Islamic Institute, Inc. was established in Senegal by it’s Founder and former Chairman of the Board, Shaykh Hassan Aliou Cisse (rta) in 1988, and is recognized as an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) by the United Nations. It is a Senegal based organization, and is an Institute of the “Nasrul Ilm” Foundation, i.e., “Helping Knowledge”. The AAII presently has affiliates in The Gambia, Mauritania, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, The Ivory Coast and the United States. In the U.S. the Institute has been granted tax exempt status under Section 501 (c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code with it’s U.S. parent organization located in New York and extended to Chapters in Atlanta, Georgia, Detroit, Michigan, Memphis, Tennessee and Washington, D.C.
